In the real world, a jet would absolutely obliterate a dolphin in a race. Unless of course Ace Ventura was involved, then the jet’s just screwed. Guaranteed, lock it up. If a jet and a dolphin got in a fight, I’m not really sure what the hell would happen or how that is even possible, but it would probably end up something like this…
(just substitute the dude for a dolphin). What’s more bad ass, having a dolphin or a jet? I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say you have a better chance of getting laid if you tell a girl you own a jet over a freakin’ sea animal. Well, so far, all signs point to a Jets win. But is this how the AFC East will turn out in the 2010 -2011 season?
So far this has definitely been the best NFL offseason that I can remember. There’s been a ton of big name guys going places (Donovan McNabb, Ladanian Tomlinson, Brandon Marshall, Anquan Boldin, Carlos Dansby, Thomas Jones, Santonio Holmes, Brady Quinn, Kerry Rhodes, Antonio Cromartie, Dunta Robinson, Antonio Cromartie, etc.) Just look at that list of names. It feels like the MLB offseason, and maybe even this upcoming NBA one. Two teams that have just straight up improved this offseason are those overachieving Jets and the up and coming Dolphins. Last season, they battled against each other in two great games. The Dolphins ended up winning both, causing our friend Mike to lose about 20 bucks because of a lost bet revolving around Chad Henne. I can’t blame him though. Who the hell thought he’d throw for over 250 yards against the Jets D? Apparently our friend Brian did (huge Dolphins fan). Unbelievably Henne continued to play well all season and almost got the Dolphins in a playoff spot. Mike got the last laugh though, as the Jets made their way to the AFC Championship game behind Darrelle Revis and Mark Sanchez.
The 2010 season should be even more interesting. The Dolphins who already had an above average defense, added the disgusting Karlos Dansby. And their offense just added one of the best receivers in the NFL in Brandon Marshall. This is enormous because they might ahve had the worst recieving core of all time last season. By the end of the season, Dolphins fans couldn’t wait to punch Ted Ginn Jr. in the face. Good news for them though, he just got traded for a 5th round pick to San Fran. Anyway, Henne should look 100 times better this season because of the impact Marshall will have on their offense. Look for the wildcat to regain some steam with a healthy Ronnie Brown and much better passing game to push defenses back and keep them on their heels. The Dolphins will be a much more balanced and better team this season.
Now to the Jets. They are quickly becoming a trendy Super Bowl pick, as they’ve seriously improved this offseason.

- Jets fans are hoping Holmes can do this for them in the Super Bowl
Sanchez made great strides and played awesome in the playoffs last season. Look for him to get even better with additions Santonio Holmes and Ladanian Tomlinson helping on offense. L.T. should at the least replicate what Thomas Jones did in the red zone last season, leaving Shawn Green most of the touches. Holmes is the big game/ big catch receiver the Jets need. Braylon Edwards didn’t cut it last season (way to many dropped passes), and will fit the #2 slot much better. The Jet’s defense doesn’t need much talking about considering it’s just amazing and we’ve all been hearing about it since week 3 of last season. I’m just going to say this, by adding Cromartie, the best defense in the league got even better (they could use a pass rusher though).
Marshall vs. Revis. Henne vs. Sanchez. Dansby vs. L.T. Ronnie Brown vs. David Harris. I think this might be the best division battle in the NFL next season, and both teams will make the post season. I’m really excited to see these two teams clash all year long and I could care less what happens in the AFC (Although I’m very happy to see that the days of Tom Brady and the Patriots seem to be over with). Offensively I like the Dolphins, but on D, I love the Jets. Look for the Dolphins and Jets to split against one another, home team winning both. Pre draft projected finish: Jets 12-4. Dolphins 11-5. On Sundays this fall, our house will be an interesting one (Easily expecting a few fights between Mike, Russo, and Brian). Then again, none of this even matters because Matty Ice, Roddy White and the Falcons are winning it all anyway.
