Adam Wainwright, easily one of the best pitchers over the last few years apparently injured his elbow yesterday and will most likely need Tommy John Surgery.
God damn does this suck for you Cardinals fans. How does it feel to realize you couldn’t win your shitty division last season when it was at its worst, your superstar clearly isn’t coming back next season, and now your best pitcher is out for the season and more. Sounds like things can’t get much worse for St. Louis, but I think they actually will.
As of right now, the Cardinals are going hard after Kevin Millwood to replace Wainwright. Haha, c’mon that’s like when that Jesse James douchebag threw away Sandra Bullock (who I would absolutely obliterate) for that hideously tattooed beast he considers a woman. But it’s cool Cardinals fans, Millwood’s bringing that impressive 4-16 record with him over to the NL Central where he’ll most certainly succeed pitching to guys like Ryan Braun, Joey Votto, Prince Fielder, Aramis Ramirez, and Andrew McCutchen (yes, I mentioned a Pirate).
Last season the Cardinals finished 5 games back of he Reds in one of the worst divisions in the history of baseball. The NL Central had 2, possibly 3 teams that would finish in last in almost any division last year and the Cardinals still only managed to get 86 wins out of it. And that was even with Albert having yet another monster year, Wainwright finishing 2nd in the cy young, and Holliday and Carpenter having great seasons as well. If they couldn’t win that division last year, there’s 0 chance they will this season. Right now, I predict them to finsih in 3rd behind the Brewers and Reds. Who knows maybe the Cubs will play much better ball this year too. Eh, probably not much of a chance that happens unless they get this little retard back at Wrigley though.
The Cardinals need to bite the bullet and trade Albert Pujols somehow, someway. They absolutely cannot let him become a free agent because I will guarantee that he will be a Cub next season if they do. Numerous GM’s have come out and said that $30 mill a year ain’t gonna happen, but the Cubs have said they’re down if it will get them the best player in baseball and piss off their rival. Smart move Cubbies, but where was that intelligence when you decided to sign Alfonso Soriano?
Look for Albert to wave his no trade clause mid season when this team is clearly going nowhere, and the Cardinals ultimately realize that they have to do it to get something in return, and keep him out of the Cubs hands. Then, holy hell the Cardinals are gonna blow more schlong than Michael Jackson at a Chuck E Cheese, and the suicide rate in St. Louis is going to sky rocket.
