Nick “the stick” Swisher and Joey “your lucky to be in this article” Votto have won the vote for the final spots in the 2010 MLB All-Star game.
I am pretty pumped that Swish won the vote, he deserves to be there, and easily could have been voted on initially. Here’s a guy that everybody in the world just loves, who has finally put together every phase of his game, and is playing on a world championship team. Not to mention the guy just crushes New York’s finest smoke.
This offseason I know Swisher spent an incredible amount of time working on his eye at the plate, which confsed me because he always seemed to hit in good count and get on base despite a .250 career average. Well, .298 14 and 49 show that he is putting better swings on better pitches.
As for Joey Votto, he is extremely underrated, but I don’t really care about him or the NL. The Reds may be one of the biggest stories of the first half, but the real story has to do with Nick the Stick going out to LA and showing Katie Perry and those California girls where his nickname really comes from.
Way to go Nick, cheers.
