Yanks pen best/Mets better than ya think…

Say what you want about the Yankees starting pitching. Yes, it may not be as strong as years past or as good as the Sox and Phillies, but the bullpen looks like it could be the best in baseball.

Last night was a different story. After Sabathia threw his first gem of the season, Rafael Soriano and Dave Robertson blew a four run lead and the Yanks fell 5-4 to the Twins who they have dominated for the last 10 years. The thing is though, I’m not worried and either should every other Yanks fan. The people who should be worried are the over hyped boys up north.

This bullpen has the makings of not only being the best in the league, but one the greater ones we have seen a long time. If Joba can pull his wait, which by the way everyone just because you don’t like the guy doesn’t mean he doesn’t have good stuff, Soriano can put this one in the past and Mo can be Mo the Yanks will have trouble losing. Match that up with Boone Logan who is coming off a career year in NY and Feliciano, who obviously wants to prove something, I’d say we’re pretty damn good.

The Yanks will make a move somewhere down the road here, whether it’s trading Joba or Nova or some talented starter we have in the minors, and most likely it won’t be for a no name three of four. They will go for the home run and get one of the best like they always do. But For now, the Yanks rotation is fine because if you get through six the game is pretty much over.

Meet the mets, great the mets, just walk up and beat the mets…not no more! Honestly coming into this season I had no expectations for the Mets. None. I expected a third of fourth finish way below that of the Phills and Braves. But let’s not do that quite yet.

The Mets seem to be playing with that New York swag. I know I know, we’re not even a week into the season, but hey it’s better to start 3-1 than 1-3, I don’t think anyone would disagree with that.

The lineup is underrated. Yeah I said it. I mean, they got some pop everyone. With Wright, Beltran, Davis and eventually Bay in the middle of the lineup, that’s pretty damn good and better than most in the majors. The only thing that could come back to hurt them is pitching and we all know good pitching wins championships. Last night Chris Young pitched suburb, but he has to holster and be consistent at the bottom of the rotation. Pelf has to become a solid number one and Niese and Dickey have to exceed expectations.

Can this team win the NL East…I’d say not this year. They are however heading in the right direction and are a lot better than people think.
